Gretchen Ratcliff Sawyer

Gretchen Ratcliff Sawyer is the Chief Content Strategist at ZENWRITERS. She is a writer, screenwriter, literary visionary, and winner of the Abraham Polonsky Prize in Critical Writing. Her drama TV pilot, teen feature comedy script and her adult comedy webseries have placed in 15 global writing competitions just in 2023. Her critical essay on James Baldwin, and her essay on Underrepresented Writers in Hollywood, were published in two literary journals. From dynamic press releases, media alerts, and speeches, to powerful content for websites, SLED/Federal proposals, to learning and development, Gretchen has written for public television and is an expert in writing dynamic Professional Bios, Corporate Profiles, Persuasive Content and Compelling Narrative.

She creates original works, adaptations, rewrites, and script coverage. Gretchen writes comedy and drama for film and television. As a Novelist, she writes engaging and compelling narrative that kidnaps the mind of the reader. Seven years ago, Gretchen downsized, left corporate America, and returned to film school full-time. It was tough but it was worth it.

A Los Angeles native, she has an accomplished dual and parallel career in Project Management, Business and Brand Development, Strategic Planning and Marketing for Corporate America.

Her career originated in product development in the ethnic health hair care industry at WOC Products where she credits CEO Frank Davie with unleashing her diverse talent early on. Gretchen says, "I was blessed to be mentored by a bold businessman, who let me be creative in every way.”

Gretchen went on to join the Award-Winning Packaging Design, Product Development and Marketing Teams at Giorgio Beverly Hills and Gale Hayman Beverly Hills where she collaborated on the development of several high-end product lines. She worked with chemists, developers, scientists, laboratories, and packaging houses throughout the world.

She was co-founder of the ground-breaking aromatherapy products company Muse Body, Mind & Spirit, an extraordinary line of wellness products that landed in retailers like Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, ZGallerie, TJMaxx, Dillard’s, Mother’s Market, Wild Oats (now Whole Foods), Neiman Marcus and other retailers throughout the U.S. Muse also appeared in magazines like Elle, Essence and Glamour. Gretchen and partners appeared on the cover of Success Magazine as “Bootstrappers of the Year,” and on the TV entrepreneur show MAKING IT, in addition to radio and print media.

Every step of her career, she was writing.

Gretchen has worked on several diverse and high-level marketing campaigns over the years from Political and Educational, to Cosmetics, Hair Care and Nonprofits. She has helped leaders and influencers leave their footprint in the marketplace through dynamic communicative solutions. She landed in technology and has written for companies like AT&T on four different contracts. She's written for Apple, Lumen Technologies, and medical device manufacturers Adaptive Research and Biotechnologies and Cordis Corp. Gretchen has created a niche for what she calls the deescalation of highly complex, technical language into digestable content that anyone can understand. She takes people on a journey, no matter the ecosystem.

She is a graduate of the CSU Dominguez Hills/UCLA Anderson School of Business Joint Entrepreneur & Business Development Program, a graduate of the UCLA Extension Writer's Program, and the USC based LAAAWPPI Public Policy Program. She previously attended California State University, Northridge [CSUN] where she studied English and Creative Writing, and in 2017, Gretchen returned to the Mike Curb School of Cinema and Television at CSUN, and graduated from the school’s renowned Screenwriting Program, ranked 20th in the nation.

LAUNCHING ZENWRITERS…

Gretchen launched ZENWRITERS to address the vast and diverse need for outstanding writing and wordsmithing. “We receive countless requests to write a variety of projects from web-series to military proposals. I realized that most people find writing a challenge. It turns out to be my calling. We created a company that does all things writing. If a client can imagine it, we can write it. We are a writing machine.”

Get in touch with the team at ZENWRITERS today. Let them help you tell the world who you are, and shake-up your bottom-line.

Gretchen says, "At the end of the day, I am a storyteller. I tell all kinds of stories from technical, to instructional, to comedies and sweeping drama. I am a storyteller. If you can imagine it, I can bring it to life with language. I'm in pure alignment with my purpose."
